ADA ACCESSIBILITY: Disability/wheelchair parking spaces adjacent to elevators in the Benaroya Hall parking garage are available to placard-holders on a first come/first served basis.

Ticket Distribution Details

Commencement ceremony ticket distribution began on Friday, April 19. Each eligible JD, MJ, LLM, and PhD candidate will receive six (6) tickets to the graduation ceremony in the initial ticket distribution. A ticket is required for each individual seated in the audience (with the exception of infants and small children held on laps). All seating is general admission. Tickets should be kept in a secure place; lost tickets are not replaceable. Candidates do not need a ticket for themselves.

Before picking up graduation tickets, all candidates must complete a Graduate Employment Survey which must be approved by UW Law staff. You will receive specific instructions by email about how to complete your survey from either Student & Career Services (for JDs) or your graduate program (for MJ, LLM, and PhDs).

After your graduate employment survey has been approved through the process described in those instructions, you may pick up tickets in Student and Career Services (SCS), Suite 346, Monday – Friday (except Memorial Day) between 9:00 am – 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm.

Requesting Additional Tickets

To ensure an equitable process for the distribution of tickets to all graduates, tickets will be released in two distribution rounds. If you need more than six tickets, you must notify SCS staff at the time you pick up your initial allocation. The first distribution round runs from April 22 to May 8. The second distribution round begins on Thursday, May 9. While we will do our best to accommodate all ticket requests, we cannot guarantee the number of tickets available in the second distribution. Look for an email with additional details related to the second distribution in early May.

Ticket Will Call

If you are unable to pick your tickets up in Suite 346 by May 31, email to make will-call arrangements. There will be a will-call table at the Open House at William H. Gates Hall on Sunday, June 2, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, and at the "Artist’s Entrance" of Benaroya Hall on Sunday, June 2, from 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm.

Graduates must order their cap and gown online from Oak Hill through the UW web site. The form will open on May 8. See

Please note that our Commencement Ceremony at Benaroya Hall is much earlier than the University’s Commencement program. Law Graduates must place their cap and gown orders between May 8 and May 12 in order to pick them up between May 22 and May 24 at the University Book Store.

J.D. candidates should order the "Professional Set," the traditional black doctoral gown, degree-colored hood, and black tam.

LL.M. and M.J. candidates should order the Black Master gown & mortarboard, degree-colored hood, and black tassel.

Ph.D. candidates may order the traditional black doctoral gown or the Purple gown and tam, gold tassel, and Ph.D. hood.

The UW web site for Commencement covers all ceremonies University-wide. Please review the screen shots below to assist you in placing your order correctly.
