UW Law is excited to announce that the 2022 commencement will be a traditional, in-person ceremony.

2022 Commencement

Sunday, June 5
Ceremony starts at 4 p.m.
Doors open at 3:15 p.m.
UW Quad

UW Law is proud to celebrate the Class of 2022 with a traditional, in-person ceremony. The ceremony will be outdoors, uncovered and will be held regardless of the weather. Please be prepared for spring weather conditions, including full exposure to the sun, wind or rain. Ponchos or rain jackets and sunscreen are recommended.

Guests and graduates are encouraged to wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask if they wish to do so, whether for their own comfort or as a courtesy to others around them.

2022 UW Law graduates are also able to participate in the UW Commencement on June 11.

UW Law will host special receptions prior to the ceremony for graduates and their guests.

Class of 2022 Reception

William H. Gates Hall, Terrace

Following the reception, graduates and guests will proceed to the UW Quad. The Quad is about 0.2 miles from William H. Gates Hall. The route is paved but includes a sloping path. 2022 BIPOC Graduate celebration

Join us as we honor graduates identifying as Black, Indigenous, People of Color who, through unyielding determination, have successfully completed their JD or graduate program at UW Law. Graduates' families and guests are welcome to attend, and refreshments will be served. For more information, email lawconf@uw.edu.

Join us in this celebration as we honor graduate students and visiting scholars with awards for their leadership, academic achievement and community building. Family and guests of all ages are welcome. Please feel free to wear business casual or traditional attire from your home country.


All graduates are required to wear cap and gown, which may be purchased through the UW Office of Ceremonies Registration/Order Form, beginning in early May. Graduates are responsible for ordering and distributing guest tickets, as needed, for their friends and family.


Entrance tickets will be required for our graduates' guests. All tickets are complimentary and were ordered by the graduate.

Honoring the Classes of 2020 and 2021

UW Law will have a separate reception honoring alumni from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 who were not able to celebrate in person.
