Law School Awards
The University of Washington School of Law has over 70 different funding sources providing scholarships, fellowships and awards to students each year. To be considered for these scholarships, admitted and current students need to complete the scholarship consideration form. In additional to scholarships, students may pursue the following awards.
Submitting your law school application, FAFSA (if applicable) and the scholarship consideration form ensures you will be evaluated for all available scholarships.
The following awards are designated by the faculty.
Paul P. Ashley Memorial Endowment Fund
Awarded to outstanding members of Washington Law Review.
Margaret Darrow Endowed Scholarship Fund
Awarded to the Editor In Chief of Washington Law Review.
Malcolm Edwards '57 Award for Best Appellate Brief
Awarded to the best overall Appellate Brief written by a first-year student in Legal Analysis, Research and Writing (LARW). The prize includes a cash award of $2,000. More information about this Scholarship Fund can be found here.
Meade Emory Endowed Prize
Awarded to an outstanding scholar in the Graduate Program in Taxation.
Delta Theta Phi Scholarship
Awarded to the student with the highest combined first and second year grades.
Melissa S. Landers Memorial Fund
Awarded to aspiring Information School students interested in law librarianship.
Vivian and Florence Lewis Carkeek Memorial Fund
Awarded to the best student contribution to Washington Law Review.
Jack MacDonald Merit Award
For academic and civic achievements during law school, recognizing dedication, selfless service and a generosity of spirit--essential qualities of Jack MacDonald, Class of 1940.
Spirit of Alena Suazo Award
Recognizes a graduating student with an intense passion for justice and the willingness to effectuate change. May we remember and honor Alena's passion and courage.
Eugene A. Wright Scholarship Fund
Awarded to an outstanding scholar in each of the second and third year classes among nominees submitted by the faculty.
