LAW E 543 Sports Law Fundamentals

Survey of key areas of substantive law applied in the context of pro, college, and elite international sport. Examine legal relationships among athletes, teams, leagues, governing bodies, sponsors, broadcasters, fans. Explore contract, antitrust, intellectual property, and other federal law. Look at financial and business structures defining the sport industry and self-regulatory approaches in play. Readings, class discussions, exercises, industry guest speakers.
