Designed to take advantage of special opportunities resulting from visitors to the School of Law or other exceptional occurrences. (This is not a form of independent study.)

Cybersecurity and Data Protection
This course is designed to give students an overview of legal issues relating to personal privacy protection and cybercrime with a focus on the environment in the United States. The course will seek to convey practical information relating to data protection, office security and problems relating to hacking, ransomware and identify theft. Major privacy cases and statutes will be reviewed and critically analyzed.

Empirical Methods in Socio-Legal Research
Provides an introduction to research design and methodology. Designed to help students develop skills in qualitative and quantitative research metholds in order to gain the ability to conduct and evaluate empirical socio-legal research.

Transgender Rights Seminar
This course will analyze the evolving political and legal rights and experiences of the transgender community, both historically and today. Learning Objectives: Critical analysis of the ongoing legal approach to secure the rights and equity of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people. Knowledge about the substantive legal and legislative challenges and changes in transgender legal rights & the transgender movement as related to the law. Skills and insight in identifying and advocating for transgender rights.

Sustainable Business Law
This course deals with current international legal developments in environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and the changing nature of corporate governance and corporate compliance in relation to sustainability. The course examines the roles of investors, consumers, policymakers, companies and NGOs in driving new corporate performance indicators in financial markets.

Exploring Informatics: Technology, Policy, and Ethics
Introduces a variety of Informatics and Information Science topics to pre-Informatics and non-Informatics students.
