LAW B 595 International Humanitarian Law

This course focuses on International Humanitarian Law, including the Geneva Conventions, and its practical application in the context of holding individual actors accountable under principles of International Criminal Law. In that regard, the course additionally covers the notion of Crimes Against Humanity and the Genocide Convention. Cases for discussion are drawn from contemporary situations, such as the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, as well as historical case law from the International Criminal Court and international ad hoc tribunals.
