Human Rights History Seminar: Rights, Revolutions, Republics

Comparative constitutional history of rights lawyering. Read political trials from French Revolution in Europe through postcolonial Jacksonian American Republic. Learn basic rhetoric of early human rights discourse: on treason, seditious libel, racial equality, servitude, labor conspiracy, religious liberty, consumer protection, codification. Interdisciplinary graduate and advanced undergraduate students welcome; no prerequisites. Seminar.
