The Ph.D. Colloquium is a Proseminar (Professional Development Seminar) for doctoral students. This course is required in the first year of the Ph.D. in Law. It is designed for students to engage with faculty, socio-legal scholars, and more senior graduate students to discuss research and to acquire professionalization skills – from writing conference abstracts and preparing articles for publication to ‘workshopping’ papers and developing their dissertations. The course provides an effective forum for students to become familiar with research agendas in legal academia and to build a professional skill set for success.
