Drafting Estate Planning Documents

Students will draft a variety of documents used in contemporary estate planning practice, including wills, trusts, client letters, powers of attorney, health care directives, gift tax returns, estate tax returns, opinion letters, and internal file memoranda. The class will be divided into sections with each section led by a different instructor to facilitate more detailed feedback and time for individual conferences. Grades will be based entirely on these drafting projects; no final examination. Prerequisites: Introduction to Individual Income Taxation, T510 Estate & Gift Taxation, and T513 Estate Planning (may be taken concurrently).
