Beginning Of Life: Rights And Choices

This seminar will address the controversial legal issues engendered by our increasing control over the beginning of life. After a brief overview of the constitutional underpinnings supporting fundamental rights, privacy, and liberty, the focus will be on the law, regulation, and policy implications of contraception; the new reproductive and genetic technologies, including surrogate parenthood, sperm and egg donation, in-vitro fertilization, and other methods of conquering infertility; and abortion. Enrollment limited to 14 students.
