Alternative Dispute Resolution

The study of dispute resolution in the first-year curriculum focuses primarily on conventional judicial decision-making. This course offers an overview of alternative dispute resolution ("ADR") processes including: negotiation, mediation, arbitration, med-arb, early neutral evaluation, mini-trials, summary jury trials, and E-ADR. Critical evaluation of each ADR process will occur through a combination of assigned readings, roleplay exercises, videotapes, guest presentations and student designed classes.
