LAW 297 Justice, Diversity, and the Rule of Law: Justice Sotomayor and the Role of Life Experience in the Supreme Court

Taught by two former Supreme Court law clerks, this course explores the career of Justice Sonia Sotomayor through the lens of her autobiography; asks what roles a justice’s personal experiences should play in her nomination and in Supreme Court adjudication; and explores the mechanisms by which the Court decides cases.
