International Organizations Seminar

This seminar will provide a critical introduction to some of the issues that are important to understanding how international organizations function today. The seminar focuses on the role of international organizations in the modern forms of international law-making and regulation. It will principally examine how international organizations have changed the traditional sources of international legal obligation, and focus attention on different theoretical explanations for the variations in international organization in different historical periods and different issue areas of international relations. Finally, the seminar will examine the legitimate role of international organizations in global governance and consider the effects of international organizations on the international legal process.
