LAW A 538 Estate Planning Workshop

Credits: 3-4


Development of skills in choosing and drafting documents for lifetime and at-death estate planning and disability planning. The course covers basic Wills and Trusts drafting, effective communication with clients, tax planning, planning for disability, management of an estate planning practice and planning for special assets, such as life insurance or closely held businesses, and special circumstances, such as charitable giving and special needs trusts. Prerequisite: Law A530 Basic Income Tax and A519 Transmission of Wealth. It is recommended that these prerequisites be completed before beginning the Estate Planning Workshop, but they may be taken concurrently. Law T510 Estate and Gift Taxation is helpful but not required. Limit: 20 students.
