Survey of basic principles of public international law; comparative and historical overview of various legal traditions (civil law, common law, Islamic law, and mixed systems). Examines sources, subjects, and challenges of international law, and methodology of comparing foreign legal systems, providing perspective on U.S. legal system and rules.
