UW Places Highest of U.S. Teams at International Competition

The UW School of Law team competing earlier this month at the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition in Vienna was the highest placed team from the U.S. The team comprised of law students Dara Levinson, Shannon Lawless, Connor Shively, and Aubri Goldsby finished 8th out of 258 teams from around the world. Levinson and Lawless won Honorable Mention for Best Oralist. The team's faculty supervisor and head coach was law professor Theodore Myhre and the practice coach was David Wagoner, an adjunct professor at UW and American University with a Seattle-based law practice specializing in arbitration, mediation, and international and domestic disputes.

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is a competition opened to schools worldwide, focused on resolving commercial disputes using law, treaties, and conventions developed under the auspices of the United Nations, among other international institutions. The rounds are judged by senior arbitrators from around the world.
