Law School's Mary Whisner Recognized as UW Distinguished Librarian
Mary Whisner, Reference Librarian at the UW School of Law's Gallagher Law Library, has received the university's Distinguished Librarian Award. Established in 2008 by the Dean of University Libraries in cooperation with the Association of Librarians of the UW, the award recognizes excellence in librarianship, especially as it benefits the academic community through teaching, research, learning, and innovative approaches to practice.
Whisner joined the UW law library in 1988 after receiving her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her master's degree in library and information systems from Louisiana State University. She received her undergraduate degree from the UW.
Whisner will be honored with others who have received university awards at a recognition ceremony, Thursday, June 11, in Meany Hall, 3:30-4:30 p.m., with a reception to follow in the foyer. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
