Here is a quick overview of the major events that the SBA hosts during the year.

Thank Goodness It's Thursdays (TGITs)

Friday is a slower day at the law school, so students have embraced a tradition that we call TGITs. On these special Thursdays, student organizations and the SBA will host short programs and provide drinks, finger food, and a great excuse to escape the library and mingle with your peers. Listen for TGIT announcements via email or in The Crier as they will be held intermittently throughout the year.

Social Justice Tuesdays (SJTs)

SJT is an effort to both build up UWLS’s public interest community and to increase cooperation between organizations. SJTs are the principal student event every Tuesday at lunch. Programming consists of a wide range of events such as talks by nationally recognized practitioners, films with related discussions, discussions facilitated by professors (including non-law professors), debates between professors and/or practitioners, and much more.

Race Judicata 5K, October 21, 2007

In only its second year, the SBA is excited to help host this 5k run/walk, approved by the US Track and Field Association as an official race. Fall Festival, October, 26, 2007

The SBA is proud to help Parents Attending Law School (PALS) with the third annual Fall Festival. The law school opens its doors to all the munchkins on the UW campus and offers booths of family entertainment, kindly hosted by the various student organizations at UWLS. Highlights from last year included a Bouncy Castle, a costume contest, family photos, and various carnival-type activities.

This year, the SBA will organize a ski trip for interested UWLS students and guests.

Hump Day, February 8, 2008

This celebration for 2Ls marks the half-way point of our three year Odyssey through the hallowed halls of UWLS.

Charity Drives

The SBA hosts at least one charity drive each quarter. In addition, we plan to coordinate one opportunity per quarter for students to do volunteer community service outside the law school.
Fall Quarter: Food Drive
Winter: Poker Tournament Fund-Raiser (proceeds to benefit local charity, such as FareStart)
Spring: Book Drive

Spring Gala, April 12, 2008

Colloquially known as "law prom" and perhaps the most popular event of the year, the Gala is an evening of dancing and eating at a swanky location in Seattle. It's a great chance to bust out a formal dress or your suit; we promise that on this occasion no one will grill you about your resume!

Class of 2008 Graduation Party – June 13, 2008

This year the Class of 2008 will celebrate their graduation with a party at Jillian’s on West Lake Union. There will be plenty of food, drinks, and fun to go around. All members of the Class of 2008 are invited as well as any friends or family they want to bring along with them. Tickets will go on sale in May for this awesome event.

End-of-the-Year 1L BBQ (after the last exam) June 13, 2008

Planned as a celebration for the 1L class, SBA representatives throw an end-of-the-year BBQ for the newly minted 2Ls and their professors after the last exam.
