The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) held its 2011 annual meeting in San Francisco on January 5 – 8. Presenters from our law school included Mary Fan, Clark Lombardi, and Karen Boxx. Rafael Pardo is the Chair-Elect for the Creditor/Debtor Section and Alan Kirtley became Chair of the Clinical Legal Education Section.

Mary Fan’s paper titled Reviving the Relevance of Hope in Penal Law was selected via a peer-reviewed call for papers competition for junior scholars. Mary presented the paper at the Criminal Justice Section panel on Criminal Justice and the Roberts Court.

Clark Lombardi presented at the session of the Islamic Law Section where he is also on the steering committee. The paper will be published in a special issue of the Berkeley Journal of Middle East and Islamic law.

Karen Boxx served as a program panelist for Resolved: The Trust is Extinct in the section on Trusts and Estates.
