Law School News
The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) held its 2011 annual meeting in
San Francisco on January 5 – 8. Presenters from our law school included Mary
Fan, Clark Lombardi, and Karen Boxx. Rafael Pardo is the Chair-Elect for the
Creditor/Debtor Section and Alan Kirtley became Chair of the Clinical Legal
Education Section.
Mary Fan’s paper titled Reviving the Relevance of Hope in Penal Law was selected
via a peer-reviewed call for papers competition for junior scholars. Mary
presented the paper at the Criminal Justice Section panel on Criminal Justice
and the Roberts Court.
Clark Lombardi presented at the session of the Islamic Law Section where he is
also on the steering committee. The paper will be published in a special issue
of the Berkeley Journal of Middle East and Islamic law.
Karen Boxx served as a program panelist for Resolved: The Trust is Extinct in the
section on Trusts and Estates.
