• Examining Washington's Child Welfare Legal System
  Should the legal standards for returning a child to their biological parents be the same as those that dictate removal? That is just one of the questions to be discussed at a forum sponsored by the UW School of Law Court Improvement Training Academy, "Child Safety, Best Interests, or Preserving Families?" • UW Law Students Advance to NY National Moot Court Competition
  UW School of Law students Lisa Benedetti, Andrew Gardner, and Justin Andrews won the regional National Moot Court Competition last weekend and will represent UW at the National Finals, to be held in New York City in 2010. (11/23/2009)
• Law Lecture Examines Kenyan Law and Justice Reform
  The final installment of "Law Through Global Eyes Lecture Series", a UW School of Law lunchtime discussion series, will examine legal education for law and justice sector reforms in Kenya.   The third installment of "Law Through Global Eyes Lecture Series", a UW School of Law lunchtime discussion series, will examine Rostow's economic growth theory and its successful implementation in Korean economic development. • UW Law Students Advance to National Moot Court Competition
  UW School of Law second-year law students Rob Misulich and Nick Williamson placed second in the regional finals of the 2009 Thomas Tang International Moot Court Competition and will advance to the national competition in Boston to be held in November. (10/30/2009)
• UW School of Law 2009 Bar Exam Results
  More than 87% of UW School of Law graduates passed the Summer 2009 Washington State Bar Exam, according to the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA). (10/29/2009)
• Endowment Established for UW School of Law Library
  UW law school alumnus Gerald (Jerry) Curtis '53 and his wife, Lucille, have established a generous endowment to support the Gallagher Law Library. (10/28/2009)
• Endowed Professorship Honors UW Law Dean Emeritus Hjorth
  Generous gifts from alumni and friends of the UW School of Law established the Dean Emeritus Roland L. Hjorth Endowed Professorship in recognition of Hjorth's 45 years of leadership and service to the school. The announcement of the professorship was made at Hjorth's retirement celebration on October 2, 2009. (10/15/2009)

• UW's Founder of Environmental Law is First Costle Visiting Professor
  UW School of Law Stimson Bullitt Professor of Law William Rodgers, who is widely recognized as the founder of environmental law, is the first Douglas Costle Chair Visiting Professor at Vermont Law School. (10/14/2009)
• UW Law Students Take Climate Justice to Stanford, Europe

• Law School Hosts Review of Environmental Supreme Court Cases
  As the 2009-2010 Supreme Court Term gets underway, the UW School of Law will host a half-day discussion on October 23 of the five environmental law cases heard by the court in the 2008-09 term, as well as previewing cases for 2009-10. (10/8/2009)

• UW Environmental Law Clinic Recognized for Exxon Valdez Case
  The UW School of Law Berman Environmental Law Clinic received the Excellence in a Public Interest Case or Project from the Clinical Legal Education Association for its work on behalf of Native Alaskans impacted by the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill. (6/3/2009)

• Spokane Falls to flow full-time, thanks to Berman Environmental Law Clinic
  A settlement that the Berman Environmental Law Clinic helped negotiate means that after nearly a century, water will once again flow year-round at a historic site in Spokane. (5/7/2009)

  In 1984, Jennifer Thompson-Cannino testified that Ronald Cotton was the man who raped her. Eleven years later, DNA evidence cleared him of the crime. • FTC, UW School of Law Hosts DRM Conference
  The Federal Trade Commission will hold a confrence Wednesday, March 25 at the UW School of Law on the subject of digital rights management (DRM) technologies. • UW Law Professor Paul Miller Joins Obama Administration
  UW School of Law professor Paul Steven Miller has joined the White House staff as a special assistant to President Obama. Miller, a nationally-recognized expert in employment discrimination and disability law, will manage the political appointments process at the U.S. Department of Justice and for lawyers throughout the new administration.
