Externship Program
Applying for an externship has two parts: School and Sponsor Organization.
School
A completed and signed Externship Application is due one month before the quarter
during which the student expects to take an externship. Students are encouraged
to submit an Externship Application as soon as they consider participating in an
externship, whether or not they have found a placement.
Sponsor Organization
Applying for placement at a Sponsor Organization is like applying for a job. Students
should follow each Sponsor Organization’s application instructions. Additionally,
if a Sponsor Organization is not on the list of Approved Placements, students must
submit a Request for Approval of Externship Site at least one month before the quarter
during which the student plans to take the externship.
Specialized Programs
The UW Law Externship Program facilitates the application process for a few
specialized programs.
