The William H. Gates Public Service Law Program
The William H. Gates Public Service Law Program enhances the environment at the
University of Washington School of Law in two key ways. The program awards five
scholarships on an annual basis to first year students entering the UW School of
Law J.D. program who are willing to commit to practicing a minimum of five years in
a public service law setting after graduation. This enables students who might not
otherwise be able to afford law school or to choose a lower paying public service
position after law school the opportunity to attend a top notch educational
institution. The program also provides a breadth and depth of programming about
public service/public interest practices that brings in a diverse series of
speakers on a wide range of topics.
