Mie was a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for twelve years. Her work ranged from international conferences to protocol, and included a posting in Paris. She has a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and was admitted to the Washington Bar in 2001.
Mie is responsible for LL.M. and Ph.D. admission, orientation, course selection, academic status, Masters degree requests, doctoral committee formation and Ph.D. examinations. She monitors candidates' progress and provides advice on the student-supervisor relationship and work-life balance.
