LAW B540 Japanese Law

Introduction to the basic institutions and processes of the Japanese legal system. The course will emphasize the historical development and traditional role of law, the reception of Western law, and the cultural and structural factors that influence the function of law and legal institutions. A paper in lieu of a final examination may be required, depending upon enrollment and instructor preference.
