Career Planning and Public Service
The Office of Career Planning and Public Service invites students to partner in advancing their careers by providing career coaching, recruiting opportunities, electronic job-search tools, and events. Relationships matter in the practice of the law; many of the events and activities are planned to create and promote new relationships among attorneys, alumni, and UW School of Law students.
In addition to career planning, we promote Public Service/Public Interest Law through several activities, career fairs, events, and in partnership with programs such as the Gates Public Service Law Scholarship Program, the Northwest Public Service Career Fair Law School Consortium, and the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs. In October, the Career Planning Office provides funding to enable ten students to attend the Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair in Washington DC. The Externship Program is administered through the Career Planning Office and provides students with assistance in finding positions and receiving academic credit for practical experience in non-profit and government offices. The Career Planning Office has developed close ties with local government, public service agencies, and non-profit organizations. The Career Planning Office also administers Judicial Clerkship and Judicial Externship recruitment and advising.
