Legal Research Training Center (LRTC)
The LRTC provides opportunity for hands-on computer-based training for up
to 24 students. It is not a drop-in student computer lab; the law student computer
lab is Room 222.
Location: Rooms L201 and L202 on the lower floor of the library.
Capacity: The LRTC may be divided into two classrooms with 12 student computers
and one instructor computer each, or combined into one room. The classroom
is normally left undivided.
Responsibility: The LRTC is a “self-service” training lab; instructors are
responsible for setting up and closing the room. Assume about 15-30 minutes
on each end to set up and close down the room (the half hour is more appropriate
if the room dividers need to be closed for class then opened and put away when
class is over).
Software Available: Computers run on Windows XP and have Internet Explorer
and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). The
student computers are on the law school network (for staff training purposes).
Instructor’s Resources: Each room has a _smart podium_ Crestron panel controlling that room's
technology including: computer, DVD, video, and CD players. The Crestron
panel controls the screen, lights, projector, and sound levels. There is one
document camera and one overhead projector for the two rooms. Instructors may also bring their own laptops and
hook them up to the system. Each room has a detailed set of instructions about
using the technology (including passwords) and hints for setting up and closing down the room efficiently.
Reservations: Use the Room Reservation Request Form and indicate "LRTC" in the room number field.
Key: Stop by the Reference Office to pick up a key to the LRTC.
Special Software: If special software is needed for the training, contact
Dave Tawatao (adt@ or 543-6457).
Limitations: The LRTC is limited to members of the law school community.
No food is permitted in the LRTC. Only drinks in covered containers are allowed. Please remind students about this
policy.
