Social Justice Tuesday-The ROOTS Project: Good News from Africa

2005 marked the end of a 21 year old civil war in Sudan, which left more than 2 million dead and displace more than 4 million both within and outside the country.

In 2004 Anyieth D'Awol a South Sudanese woman, completed her Master degree in Human Rights Law. After working as a human rights investigator for the United Nations, she established the ROOTS project in 2009. The organization's mission is economic empowerment of women and preservation of traditional arts and crafts. More information at www.rootsofsouthsudan.org
