BUSINESS/CORPORATE LAWYER PANEL - FEBRUARY 21, 2007
The Society for Small Business Development sponsored a panel discussion featuring practicing corporate/business lawyers on Wednesday, February 21 at 12:30 in Room 207. Panelist shared their insights and experiences from corporate law practice and provided tips as to how to prepare for such a practice. Panelists were:

DAREN NITZ, Vandeberg Johnson & Gandara.
Daren has over fourteen years representing entrepreneurs, public and private
companies, underwriters, and venture investors in private and public equity,
debt and convertible securities offerings in emerging and established
businesses. Daren also serves on the WSBA Business Section's Executive
Committee and was last year's Chair. Additionally, he is serving as a
volunteer supervisory attorney at the UWLS Entrepreneurial Clinic.

LAURA A. BERTIN, Summit Law Group.
Laura represents emerging growth as well as established companies in a wide
range of transactions, including equity and debt public offerings, venture
capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing, federal
and state securities law compliance and corporate governance issues. Laura
acts as corporate counsel for a number of public companies and assists these
clients with a wide range of issues, including compliance with the
Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, preparation and review of periodic reports, and
compliance with insider trading and disclosure regulations.

LEWIS S. MALAKOFF, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP
Lew represents emerging and established technology and life sciences
companies with an emphasis in public and private securities offerings,
mergers and acquisitions, public company reporting and disclosure, venture
capital financings, corporate formation, contracting, and general corporate
matters. He is also a graduate of this law school and served as an editor
