Life After Law School
At the UW School of Law, we provide more than an exemplary
education and valuable field experience. We also provide the job
preparation tools and post-graduate network and services to
ensure success beyond your academic experience. As a result,
we have one of the nation’s highest employment ratings.
Alumni Association
Many career resources, including individual counseling,
employment listings, referrals to legal career consultants and
appointments for career planning and job search strategies, are
also available to alumni. In addition, the UW Law School Alumni
Association (LSAA) keeps graduates connected. The association hosts a variety of networking and social programs, including the
Young Alumni Program's morning speaker series, where topics
have ranged from human cloning to the Patriot Act. Other
activities include class reunions, happy hours, an annual alumni golf
tournament and the annual alumni banquet.
Its other functions are perhaps less visible, but still very valuable.
The LSAA serves in an advisory capacity for law school deans; assists
through committees in minority recruitment, student placement;
and provides career planning services for students and alumni. It has
provided funding for new student orientation programs; an active
mentor program which pairs practicing attorneys with students;
commencement exercises; publication of the first-year student
handbook; and various scholarships and faculty assistance programs.
Under the auspices of the LSAA, the law school publishes its twice-yearly UW Law magazine.
