Submissions for the Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts
The Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts is currently seeking
submissions of articles for its upcoming volumes. The LTA Journal welcomes
the submission of articles that address emerging legal issues in business and
technology in a global context.
Advantages of Publication with the LTA Journal
The LTA Journal is published in a concise electronic format that permits
it to respond quickly and pragmatically to legal issues that emerge at the
interface of business and technology.
Articles are approximately 2000 words long. They are not heavily footnoted like regular law journal articles.
A partnership between student editors and an Editorial Board comprised of
faculty and attorneys who are noted experts helps the LTA Journal produce
thoughtful,
timely coverage of emerging issues. These editing capabilities and research
resources enable the LTA Journal to provide comprehensive source gathering
and citation checking services for authors.
Submissions Guidelines
Although authors accepted for publication in the LTA Journal typically
have a law degree and professional experience, the LTA Journal will consider
submissions from non-lawyers, LL.M. students, and students pursuing graduate
studies related to business and technology.
Submissions to the LTA Journal are evaluated on a rolling basis. The LTA
Journal will acknowledge the receipt of all submissions and typically
makes
publication decisions within a month of receiving a submission. The LTA
Journal publishes several issues per year. The length of time from acceptance
of a submission to final publication ranges from three to six months, depending
on the time of year and the availability of space in upcoming issues.
Articles should be analytic, supported with citations to authority when necessary,
with focus on a topic that can be addressed within the 2000-word length.
Citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed.).
All articles and translations are edited carefully, cite checked, and formatted
by the editors of the LTA Journal prior to publication. Our offer
of publication is conditional on the author working with the editors to reach
consensus on
the final edited version. If agreement is not reached, the author has
the
option to withdraw the article.
Authors accepting offers of publication in the LTA Journal are expected
to provide copies of sources unavailable at the University of Washington, ideally
in electronic format, and to respond to editing requests promptly.
Send submissions to the LTA Journal by electronic mail in a Word document
to WJLTA@u.washington.edu. Include a brief biography or curriculum vitae
and an article abstract.
