The Washington Journal of Environmental Law & Policy invites submissions for papers focused on how the legal landscape contends with the challenges of earthquakes and natural disasters. The Journal will be partnering with the University of Washingtons Environmental Law Program to host a related symposium in January 2017. The symposium will have a narrower focus on the topic of earthquake response in the Pacific Northwest. Accepted papers will be featured in a monograph book, and selected authors will have the opportunity to present at the symposium.
Submitted papers should relate to the growing need for law and policy addressing earthquake and natural disaster preparedness and response at various scales (local, regional, national, and global). In addition, papers may address other related topics, such as liability concerns following natural disasters, land use planning, and regulatory matters. We also welcome proposals for symposium speakers.
WJELP continues to accept submissions on a rolling basis. Our regular publishing timeline includes two major publications each winter and spring.
We invite authors, including professionals and law students from the University of Washington and other law schools, to submit scholarly legal articles and essays on topics of environmental interest to the Pacific Northwest region and beyond.
