Taxation Law Program Admissions
Applicants must hold a J.D. or an equivalent degree from a law school that is a
member of the Association of American Law Schools and is approved by the American
Bar Association. International students must have a first degree in law or equivalent.
The central criterion for admission will be the applicant's potential for successful
completion of, and contribution to, the Program. Especially important factors include
the candidate's overall academic record, particularly in law school; the candidate's
performance in tax or related law school courses; and the candidate's professional
experience. Each candidate's potential is compared to that of other applicants,
with the objective of filling each class with the best students in the applicant
pool.
Course fees for the 2008-2009 academic year are $600 per credit hour. For full-time students in 2008-2009, therefore, the total tuition fees will be $21,600.
Fees cover the use of all necessary facilities, equipment and library resources. In addition there is also a University fee that permits students to use all the facilities located throughout the campus. Currently, the total University fee is $175 per quarter.
Financial Aid:
A limited amount of financial assistance is available to students in the Graduate
Program in Taxation. To be eligible, a student must show academic promise and be
enrolled as a full-time student in the LL.M. program. Applicants interested in financial
assistance should submit a letter to the Director of the Graduate Program in Taxation
requesting scholarship assistance. Because scholarship assistance is awarded on
an ongoing basis, students who wish to be considered for assistance are encouraged
to apply as early as possible, but no later than the time they seek admission to
the Graduate Program in Taxation.
The standard educational loans are available for
U.S. Students through the University Financial Aid Office, 105 Schmitz
Hall, Box 355880, Seattle, WA 98195; telephone number: (206) 543-6101.
