Peer Mentoring
2L and 3L peer mentors are available to work with 1L students to help them develop study habits, adapt their learning styles, and manage the academic side of law school that is not covered in the classroom. Depending on preference, students may choose meet one-on-one with a peer mentor or to work with a small group of classmates to arrange a peer mentoring session.
Peer mentors can help with topics like:
- organizing your notes
- using a study group
- analyzing a case and finding the rule
- reviewing a practice exam
- outlining
Please remember that substantive questions about torts, contracts, civil procedure, and other courses are best addressed to professors, not peer
mentors. Although the mentors may be able to help students pinpoint the area that they need help with, they will not be able to help students learn all the details of Section 207 of the UCC! The primary purpose of the tutors is to support 1Ls in their development of effective study skills.
This year, the ASP's Student Co-Directors are 3Ls Andrea Bradford and Aurora
Janke. Additional peer mentors will also be available to assist 1L students. Students interested in serving as a peer mentor during their 2L or 3L years should watch lawdawgs for the annual hiring announcement in mid-September.
To schedule an appointment with a peer mentor, please complete the following form; it will be sent to the ASP's Student Director, who will match you up with a peer
mentor and send you an email to confirm your appointment.
Please remember that our mentors are also students with busy schedules.
Mentors will do their best to meet with you as soon as possible, but they greatly appreciate it if you can give them ample time to schedule an appointment in advance. We also appreciate it when you suggest a variety of times in which you can meet during the week. Thank you for your consideration.
