Class of 2011 Class Gift

Alumni support and participation is an integral part of any educational institution. In 2004, the 3L class launched the Class Gift Program to promote awareness of the importance of alumni giving and to leave a lasting legacy at the school. Each year the 3L class comes together, led by the Class Gift Committee, to promote and develop their class gift.

Honor a great professor and leader

Miller was admired and loved by many of his students and colleagues; with his wit and humor he made even the most unbearable classes seem fun. He leaves a legacy as an internationally renowned expert in the area of disability and employment discrimination law and will be remembered as someone who embodies the principles of justice and service.

The Professor Paul Miller Diversity Scholarship fund will provide financial assistance to deserving UW law students from all types of underrepresented backgrounds.

Improve diversity

Diversity comes in all forms. A diversity of perspectives enhances the Law School's classroom conversation and adds to our community outside of class. A diverse student body is as important as the diversity sensitivity we aspire to.

We can take this opportunity to leave the law school better than we found it. By making a gift of any size to the Paul Miller Diversity Scholarship fund you will be joining your classmates in honoring one of our most inspiring professors and assuring that classes that follow us are part of a diverse student body that will inspire critical thought and shared ideas.

"Diversity is part of excellence. Today, the best legal education must include an integration of theory, doctrine, and practice and must be delivered by a diverse faculty to a diverse student body. Especially for a global law school such as ours, graduates must be culturally competent and prepared for an increasingly complex and connected world. Law is a powerful tool for social change, and all of us who are part of the legal profession have a duty to seek to make real the promise of "equal justice." Justice cannot be a commodity that is available only to those who can afford it; that not only harms the persons who are denied access to justice, but it undermines respect for the rule of law and lawyers as well." – Dean Kellye Y. Testy

The creating of the Professor Paul Miller Diversity Scholarship fund by the 2011 3L class is one more way that the UW School of Law can offer a great educational experience that is available to everyone.
