Student Bar Association Statement of Diversity & Inclusion

The Student Bar Association at the University of Washington School of Law strives to support a multicultural environment that benefits learning. Our community of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni is deeply committed to promoting and facilitating opportunities for shared understanding and expression of individual and collective truths.

We resolve to respect all persons despite differences, including age, citizenship, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, geographic origin, language, marital status, nationality, philosophical beliefs, race, religion, sexual orientation, political views, or socioeconomic status. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive environment in which all people are respected and diversity is celebrated in all of its forms.

We believe that success in creating leaders for the legal profession is linked to the quality and equality of our community. We are dedicated to developing legal advocates with a high regard for ethics, professionalism, and civility.

UW Law strives to enhance the personal and professional experiences of our community by supporting:

  • Respect and Awareness of individuals, diverse communities, and groups
  • Education that includes different perspectives, experiences, intellectual interests, and world views
  • A Commitment to increasing diversity in the law school and the legal profession
  • The value of Collective Action to challenge prejudice, stereotyping, and harassment.

This SBA commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential to prepare UW Law students to practice in a diverse society and to further justice in a multicultural world.
