Judge John C. Coughenour Award in Trial Advocacy

Jason Sykes, class of 11, won the Best Oral Advocate Ward at the mock trial competition presided over by Judge John C. Coughenour on May 12, 2011. This award was created in 2007 by family, friends, former law clerks and colleagues of Judge Coughenour to honor his move to senior status on the U.S. District Court and to celebrate his twenty-five years of service on the federal bench. This annual award honors Judge Coughenour’s dedication to improving the quality of trial practice, his commitment to trial lawyering and his many years teaching trial advocacy at the UW School of Law.
