Ph.D. Program Administration

Mie MurazumiA defining feature of the Law School’s Ph.D. program is its comprehensive administration by the Academic Program Coordinator, Mie Murazumi, B.A., M.A. Oxon, J.D. (admitted to WA State Bar 2001). Prior to joining the Asian Law Center, Mie was a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Mie is responsible for Ph.D. admission, course advising, doctoral committee formation and Ph.D. examinations. She monitors candidates’ progress and provides advice on student-supervisor relationships and work-life balance.

The Law School demonstrates its support for its Ph.D. students through a dedicated Ph.D. office, located in the Gallagher Law Library. This room is equipped with desks, filing cabinets, computer and printer, and can accommodate seven Ph.D. candidates at the dissertation-writing stage of their projects.
