E-Board Positions
and Duties
Content Group
Associate Editors-in-Chief (AEIC) [3 positions: Fall, Winter, Spring]
Each AEIC will have primary responsibility for the volume of the Journal produced during the named quarter. This duty position will be second only to the EIC in terms of time and responsibility commitments; it will also offer a high degree of autonomy. In addition to responsibility for the content of one book, AEICs will organize and execute the 1L and 2L recruitment and assessment programs in tandem with their Law Review counterparts. AEICs may also be called upon to assist the EIC and Development Editors in sponsor and subscriber relations.
Articles Editors [2 positions]
Articles editors will work with the Faculty Board and Development Editors to solicit submissions from the academic and practitioner community. These editors will coordinate selection of articles for publication, work with authors and editors to coordinate article refinement, and coordinate with the Production Department for source gathering and bluebooking. These editors will also work to expand our Peer Reviewing process. Articles editors will work closely with both EIC and AEICs throughout their tenure.
Executive Comments Editors (ECE) [3 positions: Fall, Winter, Spring]
Each ECE will focus on a specific book, mirroring the utilization of AEICs described above. ECEs will have primary responsibility for the comments of their assigned book, and will schedule and coordinate all aspects of the editing and approval process. ECEs will assist their AEICs in developing publication schedules for their book, as well as assigning and overseeing the work of Primary and Secondary Editors for comments. ECEs will work with their AEICs to produce a theme for their book, as well as providing topic ideas, guidance and structure to their 2L comment authors.
Production
Department
Production Editors [3
Positions]
Production editors are the final authority on the quality
control of our product. They will work as a group to assign bluebooking and production
week/weekend activities for each book we produce. They will provide the final
check on all footnotes for format and accuracy. Production editors will produce
and update production documents as necessary, conduct liaison with the printer,
and coordinate with Lexis, Westlaw, and the printer to meet our publication
contract
Development Group
Development Editors
[2 positions]
These editors will work to promote the Journal and expand
its reach. Duties will include liaison with academics and practitioners
locally, nationally, and internationally. Development editors will interface
with the Pac Rim alumni network and other prospective donors to solicit
donations to ensure the JournalŐs continued effectiveness. Additionally,
development editors will maintain and expand our mailing list and search for
novel ways to expand our subscription base.
Operations Group
Director of Operations [1 position]
Although this positionŐs focus is primarily managerial rather than content-centric, this is the one position, which will make us successful. The 3L in this position will have overall responsibility for the organization and conduct of the JournalŐs daily affairs, to include all planning, scheduling, and deconfliction. This person will ensure that everyone on the Journal is aware of the larger operations of the Journal, which I believe will encourage a sense of ownership and involvement, particularly among incoming 2Ls. In addition, this person will be responsible for developing the technological side of the journal, to include its web presence and electronic storage of sources. And yes, they will occasionally have to order paper and staples.
