Choosing Volume Number Placement
Selecting the particular book that you will publish your Comment on will be perhaps one of the largest determinants of how this year of law school will be structured for new Pac Rim members. The quarter in which you write the majority of your Comment is likely to be one of the busiest and most challenging quarters that you will face while in law school. Please plan accordingly.
Although we are publishing 4 books this year (we have a special Indonesian edition), only 3 of those books will have student Comments:
Vol. 15.2 - Comments to be completed by 1/3/06
Vol. 15.3 - Comments to be completed by 3/06/06
Vol. 16.1 - Comments to be completed by 5/18/06
Your request for a specific book will be accommodated as much as possible, but the ultimate determination will be made by the Executive Comments Editors and the Editor-in-Chief. In addition to indicating your personal preference, please answer the following questions to assist us in making that determination:
Questions
Do you have a Comment topic proposal already in mind?
Do you have a country or area of law in which you have some specialized expertise?
How much do you know about your potential topic?
Do you speak the language of the country on which you are contemplating writing?
Are you comfortable doing research in that language?
Do you have a faculty member in mind that could serve as your advisor?
Do you have any personal obligations that you believe would interfere with writing your Comment during a particular quarter (i.e. externship, getting married, having a baby, etc.)? When?
Are you interested in having a position on the Executive Board of Pac Rim next year? If yes, it is required that you publish on volumes 13.3 or 14.1.
Are there classes that you think would be helpful in preparing for your contemplated topic? What are they? When are they offered?
Which book do you prefer to publish on?
