Search continues for new law school dean

The search for a new dean for the UW School of Law is on-going. Although an offer had been made to Mary Anne Bobinski, Dean of the University of British Columbia Law School, she chose to remain in her current position. President Mark Emmert and Provost Phyllis Wise are committed to moving forward, and they have met with the faculty, staff, and students of the law school to answer questions on the process to date and discuss options during this transitional period. They invited faculty, staff, and students to provide additional input through an anonymous web site survey.

“There are concerns and disappointment, as one would expect, but we are confident that we will be able to recruit an outstanding dean to lead the law school to an even more respected and prominent position next time around,” Provost Wise said. “Please be assured the search for a permanent dean and appointing an interim dean are top priorities for the University of Washington. We will continue to work with faculty, students, staff, and members of the legal community as we go forward.”
