CAMPAIGN UPDATE: Ed Kim '95 funds new scholarship
Ed Kim '95 has established a new student scholarship for the UW School of Law with a gift to the Students First campaign. Kim established this scholarship in honor of mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary who, with Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, was the first climber to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Hillary is considered one of the greatest adventurers of the 20th century. Less well known is that Hillary was a dedicated humanitarian who devoted his life to improving education and the overall quality of life of the Sherpa, the mountain people without whose help he would not have reached the summit of Mount Everest.
"By naming this scholarship after Hillary, I hope to remind the law students who benefit from this scholarship that behind their success are people who help to make it possible," said Kim. With that reminder, Kim hopes that the scholarship recipients will one day be motivated to help the next generation of students after they find their fame and fortune.
