After a successful set of presentations with Professor Takenaka in Tokyo and armed with my new digital camera, I took the Shinkansen bullet train to Osaka. As I promised my kids, I took this picture of it. I also caught a glimpse of Mt. Fuji from the speeding train. In Osaka I met up with Professor Kuszler to give presentations on educating law students in the legal and ethical dimensions of intellectual property, biotechnology, and other life sciences issues. Our hosts from Osaka University were extremely generous with their time, taking us on a day long personal tour of the famous temples of Kyoto as pictured here. They also took us to Osaka Castle and to great restaurants such as a famous Soba noodle house.
In the end, this was a wonderful first trip to Japan for me. I look forward to returning soon.
