SEATTLE – March 15, 2011 The University of Washington School of Law jumped from its ranking of 34th to 30th among the top law schools throughout the U.S. according to the 2012 edition of Best Graduate Schools by U.S. News Media Group. The law school also maintained its prestigious standing as one of the Most Diverse Law Schools.
“I’m very proud that our overall score improved as did our peer assessment,” Dean Kellye Y. Testy told the faculty and staff when the rankings were released. “I’m especially proud that our assessment by lawyers and judges increased significantly, an important indicator that our reputation is strong and building.
"I am also pleased to announce that our school maintained its standing as one of the Most Diverse Law Schools. This recognition is given to law schools 'where students are most likely to encounter classmates from a different racial or ethnic group.' This is likewise a critical area and we will continue to improve.”
The 2012 Best Graduate Schools includes essential, detailed statistical information on more than 1,200 programs nationwide, featuring new rankings in five of the largest professional graduate school disciplines (business, law, education, engineering, and medicine).
