Assistant Attorney General Thomas E. Perez
Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, will speak at the UW School on Wednesday, February 24 at 4 p.m. in William H. Gates Hall Room 138.
Perez was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2009. He has spent the bulk of his federal public service at the Department of Justice, including as a federal prosecutor in charge prosecuting of some of the Department's most high profile civil rights cases. Perez also served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights under Attorney General Janet Reno. Among other responsibilities, Perez chaired the interagency Worker Exploitation Task Force, which oversaw a variety of initiatives designed to protect vulnerable workers.
