The UW School of Law and Judicial Selection Coalition will sponsor a conference examining judicial selection in Washington state Friday, November 21 from 1 - 5:00 p.m. at William H. Gates Hall on the UW campus.
The conference, titled "Selecting Judges in Washington: Looking Back to 2008 and Forward to 2009", will include a discussion about what happened in this year's Washington state judicial elections, what voters think about judicial selection, judicial performance evaluations, and how other states address these issues.
Speakers and panelists include Judge William Baker (Ret.), Chair of the Committee for Ethical Judicial Campaigns; Brad Shannon, Reporter for The Olympian; Sandra Driscoll, King County Municipal League; WSU Professor David Brody; Craig Salins, Executive Director of Washington Public Campaigns;
and James Sample, Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law.
