On occasion, federal and state courts will hold session at the University of Washington School of Law. The public is asked to abide by the following etiquette and guidelines when attending a visiting court session at the law school:
- -NO large bags or backpacks are permitted, small purses and briefcases are allowed, but are subject to search;
-No one is to exit or enter the courtroom during argument;
-Enter and exit only at the marked location(s);
-No food or drink in the courtroom;
-Cell phones, laptops, and all other electronic devices must be OFF, be aware that court proceedings may be recorded only with prior permission from the court;
-Anyone entering the courtroom may be subject to search;
-UW Police, U.S. Marshals and other security detail may be in and around the building to provide security for the judges;
-Out of respect for the court, proper courtroom attire is preferred, but not required.
