Law School Visiting Scholar to Lecture on Recent Developments in Pakistan

UW School of Law visiting scholar Amanullah Shah will discuss recent developments in Pakistan, including the recent role of the judiciary in challenging the extent of General Parvez Musharraf’s rule, Thursday, November 8, 3:30-5 p.m. in Room 317 of Thomson Hall on the UW campus.

Shah's lecture, entitled “General Musharraf’s Proclamation of Emergency and Suspension of the Constitution of Pakistan” will examine the implications of this proclamation and the subsequent arrests of members of the judicial establishment who challenged the declaration. Shah is an Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at Gomal University Law College in Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan. He is a visiting scholar at the UW School of Law completing research for his PhD dissertation.
