Public Service Law Event to Feature Retired Supreme Court Justice
SEATTLE
- Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor will speak November 4,
2006 at 10 a.m. in
Kane Hall
130 on the UW campus as part of the law school's Public Service Law Fair.
O'Connor will also be the honorary guest for the
Gates Public Service Law
Inaugural Dinner later that evening (click here for details).
The first female Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice
O'Connor was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and served on the nation's
highest court from 1981 to 2006. In 2004, Forbes magazine called her the
fourth most powerful woman in the U.S. and the sixth most powerful in the world.
Justice O'Connor retired from the court in 2005.
