As the Internet continues to evolve, some search engine and software technology providers have developed an entire industry based largely on keyword advertising. Many companies are providing these services or advertising with them. These practices, not surprisingly, have drawn the attention of intellectual property owners and government regulators. This round-table considers the legal issues these practices raise, with a focus on adware, spyware and keyword search engine marketing.

PRESENTERS
Peter Becker - Pete is a Senior Attorney in Microsoft's Intellectual Property & Licensing Group, focusing primarily on trademark matters.
Dan Laster - Dan is an Assistant Professor teaching in the University of Washington LLM IP Program and a former Associate General Counsel for Microsoft responsible for managing trademarks, copyright, standards, trade secrets and research. Dan also provides IP consulting to leading northwest companies.
Brent Sanders - Brent is a Partner at Perkins Coie LLP and focuses his practice on Marketing, Advertising and Intellectual Property Law.
