Health Law LL.M. Admissions
The central criterion for admission will be the applicant's potential for successful
completion of, and contribution to, the program. Important factors to be considered
are the candidate's overall academic record, particularly in law school; the candidate's
professional experience; and the candidate's demonstrated interest in health law.
Each candidate's qualifications will be compared to that of other applicants with
the objective of filling each class with the best students in the applicant pool.
Eligibility
Degree Requirement
Applicants must hold a J.D. or an equivalent degree from a law school that is a member of
the Association of American Law Schools and one approved by the American Bar Association.
Language Ability
Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency. The ways in which
proficiency can be demonstrated are outlined in

Application Instructions
- Applicants are required to apply to the UW Graduate school.
- In addition, applicants are required to submit the following materials to the Health Law LL.M. Program:
- Copy of Graduate School application.
- A 2-3 page statement of purpose that includes a description of the applicant's professional background, career goals, and the educational objectives which he/she expects to meet through the program. [This can be uploaded to the online application.]
- Three recent letters of recommendation from professors, supervisors, or others
who know the applicant and his/her legal qualifications and professional
strengths and weaknesses.
- Resume.[This can be uploaded to the online application.]
- Copy of official TOEFL score (international students).
Transcripts, letters of recommendation, and TOEFL scores can be submitted through the LSAC LL.M. Credential Assembly Service.

Application Deadlines
International Applicants
Due to the time required for processing international applications, applicants
must complete the
online application and submit the required application materials to the
program by February 1st.
Domestic Applicants
All applications materials must be sent to the program department no later than June 1st. Applications are
reviewed on a rolling basis so it is suggested that application materials be sent earlier than June 1.
