Selection Process
Gates PSL Scholars are selected from among the group of students admitted each year
to the UW School of Law. Announcement of the new Scholars occurs in April of each
year.
An internal Faculty Review Committee reads all the Gates PSL Scholarship applications
of admitted students. This group selects approximately 50-60 applications to forward
to a Selection Committee. The Gates PSL Program Selection Committee includes a member
of the faculty of the UW School of Law, and alumni Scholar of the Program (when
such becomes available), a person working in public service law, a person active
in civic affairs in the community, all to be appointed by the Dean of the UW School
of Law and a representative named by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Selection Committee will review the application files and select 20 scholarship finalists for interviews. Interviews will be conducted with all scholarship finalists during the weekend of
April 5-6, 2013.
